Project Name: Design Build Central Issue Facility
Project Location: Fort Benning, GA
Project Owner: USACE, Fort Worth District
Contract Value: $7,918,182
Completed: November 2013
The project was part of an expansion program at Ft. Benning. The new CIF was designed to meet specific aesthetic, quality, durability, ease of maintenance, and energy efficiency goals. The building measured 250×150 ft (37,500 SF) overall with approximately 15,000 SF for offices and uniform/equipment issue counters. The structure included a mezzanine for a mechanical room, 2 loading docks, and high industrial racks. Finishes included sealed concrete, VCT and carpeting.
Sustainable design focused on energy efficiency, meeting LEED v3 Silver rating through an integrated design process. Included in this design was a large bank of solar panels arranged like a carport structure. Excess power generated was fed back into the utility grid to achieve energy savings.
